Using Live Gizmo

Who can use it. You need to be 13 or older. Live Gizmo is not directed at children under 13 and accounts are not knowingly created for them.

Your account. You are responsible for what happens under your account, including rooms you host. Don't share it, and don't create an account to get around one that was removed.

It is free, and it is provided as-is. There is no charge, no subscription and no advertising. There is also no guarantee of uptime, and no warranty. Games can be interrupted, and scores can be lost.

What isn't allowed

Live Gizmo lets you name a room, name yourself, type the category or topic a game is built from, and talk to the other people in your room. Every one of those is read by other people. None of the following belongs in any of them:

• Sexual content. Pornography, sexually explicit descriptions, or anything intended to be sexually gratifying. Sexual content involving minors is reported to the authorities, not just removed.
• Hate speech. Content that promotes violence against, or incites hatred of, a group of people based on race, ethnicity, religion, disability, age, nationality, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender, or gender identity.
• Harassment and bullying.Threatening, intimidating or singling out another person. Sharing somebody else’s personal information counts.
• Violence. Gratuitous depictions of violence or gore, and anything that promotes or glorifies it.
• Violent extremism. Content produced by or supporting terrorist organisations, and anything glorifying an act of terror.
• Self-harm. Content that promotes, encourages or gives instructions for suicide, self-injury or eating disorders.
• Sensitive events. Content that exploits a tragedy, disaster, atrocity or conflict.
• Dangerous and regulated goods. Facilitating the sale of firearms, explosives, drugs, tobacco, alcohol, or promoting their use.
• Illegal activity and impersonation.Anything unlawful, and pretending to be somebody else or to be part of this site’s staff.

This applies to everything you type or upload: your username, your profile picture, a room's name, a trivia category, a crossword topic, the answers you type during a game, and anything you send in a room's chat.

How this is enforced

Some of it is refused before anyone sees it. Usernames, room names, trivia categories, crossword topics and chat messages are checked automatically before anyone else sees them, and something that breaks the rules above is refused at the point you type it. Chat is judged on who it is aimed at rather than what it is about, so discussing a grim quiz question is fine and abusing the person who asked it is not. It isn't perfect in either direction — if something clean was refused, try different words.

Reporting. Everything a person wrote or a game drew can be reported: use the flag on a drawing or an answer, or the menu next to a player, a room, or a chat message. Reports are read by a human. What you reported is kept with the report, so it can still be looked at after the room is gone and after the message itself has expired.

Blocking. You can block another person from your friends screen or from their profile. Their chat messages stop appearing for you. Blocking is private — the person blocked is never told, and nothing changes on their screen.

What we do about it. Content that breaks these rules is removed, and a room can be closed or deleted. An account that keeps doing it, or does something serious once, is removed — which deletes the profile and takes it out of every room. Repeat offenders are not welcome back.

Your content

What you write stays yours. By typing it here you allow it to be shown to the other people in your room, and kept as part of that game's record. Games already played keep their scores even after an account goes, with the name replaced.

Changes

If these terms change in a way that affects what you may do here, the change will be announced in the app before it takes effect.
