Chess play a friend or the computer
Online chess with no sign-up. Two seats, White and Black, and a board that always faces you — your own pieces at the bottom whichever colour you took.
Play ChessWhat's different here
- There is no clock. Take a minute or take a day. Nobody loses on time here, which makes it the one game on the site you can genuinely leave and come back to.
- Nobody about? Play the computer. Sit one down opposite you and pick how hard it plays: Easy takes what it can see, Medium won't give pieces away, Hard looks a few moves ahead.
- Tap the piece, tap the square. The legal moves light up as soon as you pick a piece up, and it works exactly the same on a phone as on a laptop — no dragging, no dropping a bishop in the sea.
- Turn up late and you can watch. Which is what watching chess normally is.
